Employee Spotlight: Meet Chelsea

Chelsea is a communications coordinator and has been a member of the Paycom family since September 2012.

When asked how her position impacts Paycom’s future, she said, “As we grow, employees have to continue to know what’s going on within the company at a moment’s notice! It is essential we all stay on the same page about what’s important in our industry, our company’s goals and mission for the year ahead as well as cultural events happening to maintain our work/life balance.”

chelseamomDescribe what you do.

I am Paycom’s Communications Coordinator. That means I handle all internal communications for the company. One example is our weekly Monday Announcements e-newsletter to keep everyone aware of events happening throughout the week. I am also the editor-in-chief of our corporate culture magazine, Paycom Pulse, which features more in-depth stories that educate employees on business acumen, industry news and our company values. Essentially I am here to help increase employee engagement and keep everyone in the know, so they don’t miss any opportunities to participate in our amazing culture. In addition to internal communication, I also manage webinars and podcasts for prospects and clients. We aim to be thought leaders in our industry, and these programs help educate listeners on industry hot topics and how Paycom can help their companies.

What advice would you give a new employee for being successful at Paycom?

Be passionate about your job. Find what you love to do and embrace it. Set goals for yourself personally and professionally and you can make them happen. From the beginning of my career here, my leaders told me that I could pave my own path at Paycom, and they were right. I started out as a technical writer for the training department, and it always was a dream of mine to help the company be more strategic with communications. Now, that’s exactly what I get to do because I was passionate about what I wanted with my career and made it happen through hard work and determination.

What is your favorite “Paycom Perk?”

Team luncheons, celebrations and team building are my favorite Paycom perks. Spending time getting to know the team members you work with all day is really important, and I happen to work with some of the most creative and funniest people around.

chelseaalligatorWhere has been your favorite place to travel?

I love to visit the ocean. I’ve taken a couple cruises and was able to see some amazing places, like Belize, Honduras, Grand Cayman and Jamaica, but my favorite place has to be Egmont Key, Florida, because recently I got engaged there while snorkeling and hunting for seashells.

Do you have any pets? If yes, what kind?

I have one beautiful cat at my family home and her name is Izzy. One of my favorite things to do when I go home to visit my family is cuddle her and give her lots of attention. When I was 17, I rescued her from a barn after her mother was in an accident and she was so tiny I had to bottle feed her.

 What’s on your desk?

I am very organized so I have my planner, AP style book, as well as some editing and leadership books. I have a large, decorative coffee cup with all the essentials (because I don’t use it for drinking coffee), including: lip gloss, a nail file, lavender and peppermint essential oils and headphones. I also have some Paycom swag and green kinetic sand just for fun. If you don’t have that, get some because it’s really fun and stress relieving! Lastly, I have a picture of my fiancé and I at Year-End Party and a picture of me rocking my nephew, Jude, to sleep when he was a newborn.
